Faith Spurt by Linkz57 Faith Spurt by Linkz57
another class-ical exercise--oh, i'm so witty, it hurts--this one was basically to draw either a cubist, abstract, surreal or a pop art kind of picture. i picked surreal. yep. too bad i couldn't capture my good side...

the whole meaning behind this is that recently--within the last year or so--i've gone through what seems to me as a faith growing spurt; maybe not a huge one, but more at once then i remember ever happening before. the awkward hillside/random grassy area represents the twisted valley i've come from, growing under God's constant supervision and help (the bigger, brighter flower). the white clouds in the blue background represent the super-real clouds that many are accustom to (surreal, because everybody knows that all clouds are either a gray or light, smog infused black). the twisted vortexy aspect of the sky is really only to subtly direct the viewer around my head, and the letters "F A I T H" and the "S P R T" around my head, spelling out some kind of hidden message...

i suppose that's about it.
congrats if you've gotten this far, as even i have a hard time tearing my eyes from my own face; man i'm hot.
you have no idea.

funny story actually:
so one time i was driving down the freeway and, well, to cut a long story short, i had to remove my rear view mirror to ensure the safety of myself and other drivers.

i mean, can you blame me?

well...from most of your pics, this one stands out a bit more than the rest...compositionally, its also a bit more interesting.

But for me, this would have worked better if you actually used real photographs, onto real canvas with real paint. You should fake the digital effect more to be less stark.

Thanks for the advice, and next time I find some time and a nice canvas, it'll be interesting to try that out, but this was an assignment in class; one hour with photoshop.

Under the directions given, this is just what happened (I rarely plan before I draw or paint).

But i'll see if I can toss some more mediums on here later on.

i'll upload a version with big red circles on the leaders later,
but for now, look for the 'F' right above my eyes, as if i were looking at it, but missing a bit.
